Dr. Alexander G. Digenis, MD*

Dr. Digenis has practiced cosmetic and reconstructive surgery in Louisville, Kentucky since 1997, striving to stay in the forefront of surgical and technological developments. He has been actively involved on both local and national levels to ensure quality care and education of both physicians and patients.

Dr. Digenis graduated from Vanderbilt University where he completed his internship and residency in general surgery. He trained in plastic surgery at the prestigious New York University Hospital, and the Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital with some of the most recognized leaders in cosmetic surgery.

Before joining Dr. Norman Cole's practice, Dr. Digenis was a clinical professor of cosmetic and plastic surgery at the University of Louisville.

Dr. Digenis is the Director of Breast Health at Norton Hospital, the President of the Kentucky Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, a Faculty Member for the National Education on Botox®, and a leader in Restylene®, and new fillers such as Juvederm®. He is the President and founding member of the Kentucky Plastic Surgery Educational Foundation. Dr. Digenis is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He is also a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons.

Dr. Brian P. Thornton, MD, PhD

Dr. Thornton is a native of Kentucky and attended medical and graduate school at the University of Louisville. He received his Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology and authored numerous scientific publications and textbooks.

Dr. Thornton completed an integrated residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Kentucky. During his training, the faculty and staff recognized him as a compassionate and caring physician selecting him as Resident of the Month in 2004.

He has special interest in breast reconstruction and cosmetic surgery. He continues research including studies to decrease the pain associated with breast reconstruction and has received regional and national awards for his research and presentations.

Dr. Thornton is a Clinical Professor of Plastic Surgery at the University of Louisville, Treasurer of the Kentucky Plastic Surgery Education Foundation. Additionally, he has been appointed as Vice President of the Kentucky Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons. Dr. Thornton is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.
